only get life out of a painting if you put life into
it.” George Kennedy.
First and foremost, George Kennedy
is a portrait artist. Whether striving to capture the
light in the eyes of his subject, or the texture
of their hair, he enjoys the challenge of turning
a two-dimensional canvas into a portrait whose subject
lives and breathes.
With
animals, his goal is to make the viewer feel as
though he’s just run his hands along the muscled
back of a thoroughbred racehorse; or dug his fingers
into the warm, rough coat of a panting Labrador.
